Progress is Booming

Progress is booming at the site of the new Performing Arts Center and Artists Flats in Downtown Columbia. Last year, we broke ground on this transformative project and construction is moving quickly. The building frame and roof are now visible.

When complete, the new Performing Arts Center will feature a 340-seat theater to replace the landmark Toby's Dinner Theatre, along with two 200-seat black box theaters, a public art gallery, and arts education classrooms.

In partnership with the Howard County Housing Commission, the development will also include Artists Flats with 174 mixed-income homes, including 87 affordable units, helping advance the goals of the 2010 Downtown Columbia Plan.

This project fulfills a vision more than 15 years in the making, preserving the legacy of Toby's, creating a new home for the Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts, and expanding opportunities for artists, students, and audiences across Howard County.

We can't wait to see the final product!
